The Cut is a community arts centre in Halesworth, home to artistic events throughout the year.
The Halesworth Arts Festival is delighted to present The Tessa Fuchs Chamber Series 2014 Supported by the Tessa & Delia Fuchs Charitable Trust Philip Higham | cello with Carole Presland | piano DEBUSSY: Cello Sonata (1915) BEETHOVEN:Cello Sonata No.3 in A, Op.69 SCHUMANN: 3 Romances. Op.94 JANÁCEK: Pohadka (Fairy tale) BRAHMS: Cello Sonata No.2 in F, Op.99 Described by The Strad as having all the qualities of a world-class artist, during 2013 Philip appeared as soloist with the Philharmonia, Hallé, Northern Sinfonia and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras. He gave recitals at Wigmore Hall, the Brighton, City of London, Gower (broadcast by Radio 3) and Lichfield Festivals. In January Delphian Records released his recording of the Britten Suites to critical acclaim. Philip is one of the first British cellists in generations to have won top prizes at three major international competitions including 1st Prize in the 2008 Bach Leipzig and 2009 Lutoslawski Competitions, and 2nd Prize in the 2010 Feuermann Competition. Born in Edinburgh, he studied at the RNCM with Emma Ferrand and Ralph Kirshbaum.
