Mad Hatters Tea Party Takes Halesworth Cafe Through the Looking Glass

The Bay Tree Bistro is one of Halesworth’s biggest success stories, after it was saved from dereliction by Kim Hart, who transformed the cafe into an integral part of the community.

After it was closed for over 18 months, Mrs Hart decided to take the plunge and take over the running of the cafe, and now a year later her friends and patrons have celebrated with an Alice-in-Wonderland-themed party.

Mrs Hart, of Holton, told the Eastern Daily Press: “We have received a lot of support from the locals and decided to give a bit back by having a week of celebrations.” As well as the Mad Hatters’ Tea Party, there will be an Elvis tribute and a party evening as well as other wacky ideas.

Kids were encouraged to base their costumes on clothes bought from the local Halesworth Childrens Society charity shop, helping to support the community even further.
