A pair of Bungay High School students have won a competition to design the new logo for Halesworth. Part of the Portas pilot town team’s efforts to revitalise the town, the new logo will represent the town on local tourism materials and merchandise, helping to boost Halesworth’s profile.

Halesworth was named as a Portas pilot scheme town last year, receiving £10,000 towards the regeneration of the high street. As part of the effort to rejuvenate the town, a competition was held to find a new logo.

Kate Racho, 15, and Frankie South, 14, won with a pair of stunning designs, which were then combined by local design company Mustard Creative.

Laura Churchill, who is leading the project in Halesworth, told the Eastern Daily Press: “We want to put Halesworth on the map. Tourists always say they didn’t know this place existed but once they’ve discovered it they say they are going to come back again.”

In a move set to delight families all over East Anglia, two of the region’s best loved family events have merged into one fun-packed weekend event.

Halesworth Lions’ Wings and Wheels show is joining forces with Heveningham Hall’s Country Fair for a weekend packed with flying displays, vintage cars, ring shows as well as traditional country crafts and produce.

Heveningham Hall’s owner, Lois Hunt told the Eastern Daily Press: “It will bring people together and is something to look forward to in these difficult times,” she said. “It is a great opportunity for us to build on the experience and success of our fair and also the Halesworth Lions’ Wing and Wheels.”

The inaugural event will be held on July 6th-7th, and will feature as its headline act the incredible Blades flying display team. For more information, visit the event’s official site.

The Halesworth Arts Festival is growing in popularity from year to year, and 2013 is all set to be the best yet, with a whole roster of incredible performances and exhibitions that will expand your horizons.

The season kicks off with a performance by the incredible Leporello Quartet. Founded in 2011 at the Royal Academy of Music, the Leporello Quartet are four experienced chamber musicians from the UK, Germany/Brazil, China and Belgium. They are embarking upon an exciting career together, having given their debut performance at Festival de Quatuor ‘Les Voix Intimes’ in Tournai (Belgium) last September. Last Spring, the quartet were winners of the Wolfe Wolfinsohn Quartet Prize at Royal Academy of Music.

For those who love animals, the personality and loyalty of our furry friends is something worth cherishing, which is why Halesworth’s Little Gallery have decided to unveil a special exhibition dedicated to pets and farm animals.

Featuring the work of local painters Linda Roast and Gill Bedson, alongside scultpures and new work from gallery owner Mary Gundry and her partner, photographer Colin Huggins. The gallery will use the exhibition to raise money for the charity Canine Partners, and there will be a collection box ready and waiting for donations.

Focusing on the unique personalities of pets and farm animals, with a strong emphasis on animal rights and ethical treatment, these stunning artworks offer a thoughtful glimpse into the timeless bond between man and beast.
