Swedish Band Baskery will be heading the line up on Friday’s main stage at the upcoming Halesworth Gig in the Park 2011

The Halesworth Gig in the Park has always been a great opportunity for chilling out in the sun, kicking back and listening to some top notch bands. This years festival looks to be better than ever, with a huge roster of amazing bands including Belgian outfit My Cheap Little Dictaphone, world renowned DJ Paul Sparkes as well as musicians Benjamin Bloom and band Jade.

To add to this top quality mix of musicians, Swedish sisters Baskery will be on fridays main stage. The band of sisters started playing with their father before going it alone in 2006. They have since played several big venues from Glastonbury to Portland, US.

The group have described their musical style in such terms as “killbilly” and “mud-country”, and they have been compared with The Dixie Chicks, The Roches, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

The Halesworth Gig in the Park is now in it’s 14th year, having become quickly established on the festival circuit. It’s sure to be a sellout so get involved this summer. But for now, here’s the video ‘One Horse Down’ from Baskery:

The summer is now in full swing, and Halesworth definitely celebrated this fact, with a brilliant summer street fair.

The Suffolk Town came out in full street fair swing, with streets full of people, locals and tourists alike, seeing what Halesworth had to offer. The whole town was full of artists and performers, with the local pubs chipping in by hosting a series of local music performances. The White Hart and The Baytree Bistro both had a great atmosphere, as they hosted music in the Suffolk sunshine.

Elsewhere the streets were lined a number of stalls, with the residents and businesses of Halesworth putting on everything from craft fairs to food and drink.

Along with music and food, local charities and workshops along with local artists made the street fair a resounding success.

Yet that’s not all for Halesworth’s summer celebration. Next month sees Halesworth’s Gig in the Park 2011. The non profit gig is run by local volunteers and is a great excuse to have a huge gig in the park. Check out our What’s On Page to see what else is happening in Halesworth this summer.
